UPS scripted shutdown multiple computers

i have scenario have windows xp computer running exmerge , robocopy against windows 2000 server - files copied usb drive attached xp box. there no processes running on server. both xp box , server on ups , have powerchute software running on server. have shutdown script shuts down services on server , shuts server down - there icon on desktop manual shutdown using script , script invoked during power outage. is: 1)extend script first stop processes on xp box , shut down before doing shutdown on server2 2) @ end of day don't want 1 step in process hang shutdown e.g. had 1 situation shutting down service later removed , script hung trying shut service down - regardless of circumstance server gets shut down after 10 minutes, let's say.

according description, seems windows xp issue. focus on geneal quesiton windows server system here, for better , quick answer windows xp related question, recommend initial new thread in corresponding community further support. community members , support professionals there more familiar windows xp , can in more efficient way.
