2008 server slows to a crawl when a second user logs in on the LAN.

i posted message below last week , thought received solution couple of netsh commands. had tested solution user on network. find time problem exists when second user logs in local network. simple routine updates files usually takes 1 second (as did on old 2003 server) if 1 user logged in. when second user, either locally or remotely logs on same routine takes 30 seconds. thirty times longer. when second user logs off rountine takes 3 seconds as single user. when user logs off , logs in routine normal 1 second. first post left out fact server 64 bit os , workstations 32 bit os. have exact same problem small network upgraded 64 bit windows 2008 sbs 4, 64 bit win 7 workstations. in advance ideas..

after many years of reliable service, our 2003 windows server computer failed. had built new windows 2008 server standard spk2, i7 cpu, 9 gigs ram, more powerful computer old server. use server host data files. small network, 3 workstations, win7 ultimate, vista, , xp box. gigabit ethernet cards connected linksys gigabit router. noticed dramatic slowdown in opening , running various portions of our database product after installing 2008 server. if run application locally on server blazingly fast. if remote desktop in same great speed. when connect server through lan problem exists. before start disabling , making registry changes hoping has experienced , has straight forward remedy. in advance assistance can provide.

milos: again reply. recommendation check the ethernet configuration one. had visited there before did not see out of ordinary. time noticed gigabit card listed ipv4 connectivity as internet , ipv6 connectivity local , media state enabled. speed 10mps. found setting mentioned ipv4 large send offload , disabled it. no difference in speed. did exact same thing ipv6 large send offload , disabled . both enabled way. no difference. remember reading somewhere disable ipv6 solution problem. unchecked ipv6 box on configuration window , rebooted server. speed improved dramatically. test rountine takes 7 seconds regardless of how many users have logged on. had asked, yesterday used windows monitor watch workstations ran test rountine. the first test short see activity. cpu never higher 2%, physical memory 11%, disk usage flashed, tell tale realize network speed, kept popping between kps , mps never reaching above 11 mps. today after disabling ipv6 network transfer reached 55 mps.

so few last questions. downside disabling ipv6? sure speed can further improved. there many other configuration settings on built in intel 82567v-2 ethernet card. obvious 1 had me disable? , lastly many timely reply , expertise, warm regards, peter
