hi, i realy want understand user profile transition cycle. inputs appreciated. say, have windows 7(domain joined) , domain user account 'user1' 1. login windows 7 machine domain account 'user1', creates domain local profile user on particular box. change profile roaming ..what happen here? user profile data , settings (like documents, favourits etc.) copies roaming profile location box automatically? 2. keep roaming profile is  , enable folder redirection also....now happen? roaming profile data settings (like mydocument, favourits etc.) gets copied shared redirection folder?  cut , copy roaming folder redirection or copy paste? 3. eventually, move user vdi environment , implement 'user profile disk'...now happen? roaming profile data , folder redirection data copied 'user profile disk'? i looking transitioning of user physical environment desktop virtualization environment? , how profiles settings move physical virtual environment

we performed domain rename on production ad environment. rename performed because choose tld of .local , realized cause headaches mac's , mdns/bonjour. i combing thru event logs on dc's make sure things good, , came across error on 1 (so far) of dc's. the dns server unable create resource record  90210c9-252f-4216-9b98-f9eca93d388c._msdcs.redacted.internal. in zone redacted.internal. active directory definition of resource record corrupt or contains invalid dns name. event data contains error. there 6 of these entries in dns event log, assume 1 each dc in domain. after rename process, saw there no (new) _msdcs.redacted.internal dns zone, (only old) _msdcs.redacted.local zone, created new .internal _msdcs zone , beleive when error started. any be appreciated. see too. http://eventid.net/display-eventid-4010-source-dns-eventno-791-phase-1.htm if still issue persist delete thedns  zone dns , recreate same. best regards, sandesh dubey. mcse|mc

hello, i've got brand new dell 430 datacenter.  intent single machine replace 2 separate machines distinct names , ip addresses call server1 , server2.  server1 has database use our quality system, hosts network scans folders, , server our job boss mrp system.  mrp system can't upgraded since new version won't run on 2003, looks entire configuration needs migrated 2012 vm on datacenter.  ideally i'd retain name server1 prevent having reconfigure 100 or clients have been installed @ name. server2 our dc, file server, print server, , hosts couple of small license servers.  realistically doesn't need migrate 2012 vm, replicated as-is 2003 vm on datacenter , retain same name server2. what best method of attacking this? entire operation , running on own environment first?  keep off network until migration complete?  give instances different names until it's ready promoted?  i've been working on same 2003 ad decade now, it's been while since i'

hi, i have 3 domains in ad tree , multiple sites across europe. need replace domain controllers in root domain, including server holding forest wide fsmo roles. 1 of main challenges here domain controller heavily relied upon dns servers on our infrastructure, whether integrated our ad tree or not. need replacement dc have same dns hostname , ip address dc being replaced :( . isn't have had before i've been fortunate enough work in environments consolidated, 1 domain, windows etc. replacing dc has not been such challenge or risky. planning on taking opportunity introduce windows server 2008 dc's environment, replacement dc's running on windows server 2008. there 2 domain controllers in root domain (we'll call them rootdc1 , rootdc2), 1 of them flakey don't want except demote it. thinking meet requirements of dc replacement @ moment follows, appreciate people's comments: build new dc rootdc3 transfer fsmo roles rootdc3 demote (dcpromo) rootdc1 ch
