hello, have french version of ms word 2000, bought in france. we in process of planning domain controller upgrade @ our remote sites (except one). upgrade our existing exchange server 2003 2010. my current environment looks this: 2 windows 2003 domain controllers @ corp (single domain @ windows 2000 functional level) 1 dc (global catalog only) @ each of 12 remote factilities. my wan infrastructure mpls , between 1mb , 3mb each remote site conecting corp.   all domain controller hardware @ each remote site need replaced (except one). wish replace hardware , move windows 2008 global catalogs. 1 not need replaced continue running windows 2000 global catalog. questions have: 1) can windows 2008 dc global catalog exist in windows 2003 domain @ windows 2000 funcational level? 2) retrospectively, even need global catalogs in each remote site provide ad log on services? each remote dc acts file server , files published via dfs in domain. 3) i know in order transition exchange 2010 domain environment must moved minimum of windows 2003

so, work university , use faronics deepfreeze maintain state of our computers. i upgrading our management process leverage remote capabilities of powershell.  problem is, trying use command line utility deepfreeze, dfc.exe, remotely, via script, check whether computers frozen or thawed most of dfc command line switches work fine through powershell, such "dfc /version".  correctly display version of deepfreeze installed.  however, command "dfc /isfrozen" not work in powershell.  doesn't display error, or anything, returns me powershell prompt. here kicker though.  dfc switches work old cmd.exe application.  have tried many variations of invoke-command, start-process, cmd /c, etc.  try , /isfrozen switch work powershell, far have not had success. one thing did notice though, according documentation /isfrozen returns boolean value.  question is, there reason why returned boolean value cause powershell ignore /isfrozen trying display scre

hi, on our server 2008 r2 latest patches when browse c:\users windows explorer, ".domain" not shown @ end of userprofiles. i tried deleting administrator.domain profile , recreate it, first time log in ".domain" shown, rebooted server, logged in again , same before. and behaviour occurs not on users on server, far profile of our domain-admin account. e.g. server's local admin profile fine. is setting of our domain or else be? figured out myself.. i startet windows explorer "%windir%\explorer.exe /e,::{20d04fe0-3aea-1069-a2d8-08002b30309d}" immediatly computer view, when start without /e parameter .domain shown again. sounds me bug, because i'm using parameter on windows 7 64bit workstation, don't have problem. we have number of clients connect network via ssl vpn launched after computer has been logged into.  computer policy contains software installation packages fail install because network connection deployment server not present until after connect ssl vpn. the desktops locked down users unable install software themselves, therefore gpo realistic option have deploying msis elevated privaleges. i have few ideas, want of experiences me choose approach: 1. set logoff script copy software installation files local computer, change software install path local path e.g. c:\installs\package.msi 2. find way delay gpo execution till 10 minutes after logon when user logged vpn - not sure how or if possible. 3. use wmi push client out management server - don't idea it'll hit , miss , i'll not sure catch every computer. thanks time hi, i think first method ok, can use gpp copy msi files clients, , configure software installation policy setting. >>find way delay

i have seen other similar posts i've not been able come solution. when go aduc , remove default domain users group "administrators" repopulate group. @ first seem that's gpo. however, there aren't configuring restricted groups or gpp. running gp results wizard confirms same. have looked @ admincount attribute well. set <not set> on both domain users group , builtin\administrators group. honestly, i'm @ complete loss on one. i've removed group half dozen times , continues reappear. tried creating gpo had of existing members minus domain users group. group still doesn't removed (even though did have desired effect on non-domain controllers). can add/remove individual users administrators , stay out. seems limited group. there no scripts in policy running @ startup or in task manager. question is, cause group reappear in builtin\administrators isn't group policy, isn't admincount, , isn't script? os: windows small b

dear all: we going deploy .msi package entier desktop/laptops suppose install while user login. have windows 2008 standard r2 server deploy group policy .msi package. client operating system windows 7 pro & windows xp sp3. first deply policy on test ou when test ou computers restart & user login, shows .msi package installing when login there no such package installed. same thing, have tested on test environment & it's working fine. ad server inside firewall, need open port particualr issues. i checked on windows xp using rsop.msc then the error message shown that" install of application check point endpoint secrurity policy checkpoint package failed. error : installation source product not available. verify source exist , can access it." the msi package stroted on file server & shared can access through unc path. appreciate if can me on this.     arun khatri hi, i believe have given access permissions user account not computer accoun

hi all, i'm getting following error on 1 of domain cotrollers. please me resolve error. another directory server has attempted replicate directory server object not present in local active directory domain services database. object may have been deleted , garbage collected (a tombstone lifetime or more has past since object deleted) on directory server. attribute set included in update request not sufficient create object. object re-requested full attribute set , re-created on directory server.  this event being logged because source dc contains lingering object not exist on local dcs copy of active directory domain services database , local dc *not* have following registry key enabled ensure strict replication consistency. strict replication consistency prevents lingering objects residing on source dc re-replicating destination dc has processed deletion.  since registry key not set, object re-replicated , recreated in local active directory domain services datab
