hi there! i'm running in windows 2003 domain environment, , i'm having issues local settings folder. issue: we've purchased application stored cached credential file in local settings folder of user profile in order retain user's credentials. part of job ensure people use cache credentials of application. our environment uses roaming profile , has gpo setting instructs workstations delete local copy of roaming profile. may expect, cached credentials file deleted well. result, users have retype credentials in application. i took following steps in attempt fix problem: 1. edited ntuser.ini file located in root of user profile, remove local settings folder list of folders exclude. after logon/logoff, file went original version, is, local settings folder listed again among folders exclude.   2. created gpo , when in “user configuration à administrative template à system à user profile” under “exclude directories in roaming profile” , remove “lo

hi all, i've received 2 relatively beefy servers replace 4 of our current servers. i'm using windows server 2008 r2 , i've added hyper-v role both servers. 1 of host machines our domain controller , planning on having virtual machine on second new server backup domain controller.  i know times have changed , roles of "primary" , "backup" dc's (apparently) not relevant. though our international sites connected via private mpls, each site on different subnet on same domain. since we're newest site, i've ever had 1 dc on site. had idea of setting second (low resource vm) dc rodc. idea is, if first dc down reason, users still able log on querying rodc vm.  is there merit in doing this? understand concept of rodc's tackling "branch office" setup, rodc work backup domain controller on same site well? no.  rodc default not authenticate anyone, forwards request writable dc.  have manually define user , computer accounts on

we have 2 windows server 2012 servers several different replication groups configured replicate different folder structures between them. 1 of these replication groups seems have permanent backlog of files stuck in queue. "dfsrdiag backlog" command shows 343 files waiting replicate in 1 direction when run @ end of day. first 100 files listed command , same files. when run during day dfsrdiag command shows backlog going several thousand (with same first 100 files listed), returns 343. there no backlog in other direction. other replication groups set show no backlogs in either directions. there no errors or warning in event logs dfs replication has stopped particular volume or files couldn't replicated due sharing violations. have tried forcing replication , rebooting both servers. does have idea how can these files replicate? hi, sorry delay in reply. whether on 30000 files still displayed same file? if so, find file , move out of replication group see re

i have server old application, when app license installed used ip bind it. 172.16.1.2 server moved new network. gave new primary ip 10.10.10.2, app requires 172.16.1.2 "primary" ip otherwise application unable send out file server. tried setting secondary ip, etc. no luck any chance ras can help? thinking can have server "connect" ras server , 172.16.1.x ip in order connect external server needs receive file? have win 2003 r2 server ras loaded not configured. nic 1: 10.10.10.2 nic 2: 172.16.1.2 what configuration? i'm explaining myself well. cheers fulvio   wouldn't better idea fix application program? bill Windows Server  >  Network Infrastructure Servers

at customer having problems tmg hosted on hyper-v (2012). problem have never seen before hyper-v (2008 r2). scenario: have tmg array (two servers) running on 2 hyper-v nodes. tmg configured nlb in unicast mode. everthing works, there problem upload speed. upload speed 20% of orgional speed. known problem (kb) , should solved hotfix included in service pack 2 of tmg. in our case problem still remains. have tried everthing can imagine. apparantly issue occurs when nlb in unicast mode is enabled. solution (possible): problem imiddiatly solved when nlb configured in multicast mode. but... once reboot 1 of nlb nodes stops working! known issue unicast, therefore recommended (according many blogs) configure nlb cluster mac address static mac address on virtual machine. but... hyper-v not accept multicast mac address, unicast mac address. says invalid. question: does hyper-v (2012) support nlb in multicast mode (where nlb nodes reside on different hyper-v hosts)? there way wor
