Local Settings folder doesn't get backup in the roaming profile
hi there!
i'm running in windows 2003 domain environment, , i'm having issues local settings folder.
issue:
we've purchased application stored cached credential file in local settings folder of user profile in order retain user's credentials. part of job ensure people use cache credentials of application.
our environment uses roaming profile , has gpo setting instructs workstations delete local copy of roaming profile. may expect, cached credentials file deleted well. result, users have retype credentials in application.
i took following steps in attempt fix problem:
1. edited ntuser.ini file located in root of user profile, remove local settings folder list of folders exclude. after logon/logoff, file went original version, is, local settings folder listed again among folders exclude.
2. created gpo , when in “user configuration à administrative template àsystem à user profile” under “exclude directories in roaming profile” , remove “local settings folder” out of default list.
despite configuration, local settings folder still not include in roaming profile.
3. i went in registry of workstation in question , modify (remove local settings folder) following key:
hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windowsnt\currentversion\winlogon\excludeprofiledirs.
that still didn’t help.
any appreciated.
have contacted vendor support department describing problem? if so, did have say?
otherwise, you may have consider not deleting local copy., imagine deleting increase logon times everyone.
have considered using folder redirection instead of roaming profiles? it's faster logons, secure , data in document folder, , optionally can add their desktop, start menu, music, videos, appdata, etc, folders.
