we have odd problem plaguing 1 of our on 50 servers.  whenever try log onto server taking on 10 minutes.  messages in event log 6005 , 6006 talking group policy timeout.  makes sense because after logged in, if type \\internal.domain can take between 9 , 15 minutes explorer display results.  specify subfolder \\internal.domain\sysvol , same results. however, type server first dns on list, or pdc or name of server used authenticate , fast. we can ping dns servers , running nslookup resolves quickly, less 1ms. all servers have same dns priority list. if log on using local administrator account fast, 10 seconds, suggests issue logon script or group policy has same script , group policies other servers on domain. removing anti-virus did not speed logon. disabling ipv6 did not speed logons. any other suggestions? \\internal.domain not real name.  referencing our internal active directory domain.  security reasons won't expose internal domain on public forum.  w

hi all tasks on scheduled tasks list working fine until 1 fine day when none of tasks getting executed. i'm using windows server 2003 sp1. most of tasks execute vb script files or batch files. in tasks log(schedlgu.txt) i'm finding particular message after every unsuccessful task: result: task completed exit code of (c0000142). hi we running server 2008 r2 , windows 7 client machines. have few users moved 1 ou another. since ou move, when log on there home folder no longer shared. have go share properties of users area , share folder again. once folder has been shared can access documents. other users in same ou not experience , can access home folder ok doesn't seem gpo causing it. does have ideas on may causing it? cheers shane hi shane, it still caused policies applied second ou different policies applied first ou - , affected users have different policies. so confirm: 1. how "home folder" settings applied users - manually added per user or script involved. 2. difference between group policies applied affected , non-affected users? if have feedback on our support, please send tnfsl@microsoft.com. we have gpo sets users home page in internet explorer.  works, when user logs on pc first time or gets new windows profile on existing pc, home page specified in gpo not set. we either have run gpupdate /force , relaunch ie or else have user log off , log on before home page set (they have folder redirection , other user settings applied, no home page). other user settings take effect @ first log on.  can eliminate need for user 2 log ins before home page gpo specified set? hello, if issue happening new profiles, issue branding. fix apply "disable external branding of internet explorer"  can found @ user configuration > policies > administrative templates > windows components > internet explorer http://gpsearch.azurewebsites.net/default.aspx?policyid=561&ref=1 are using mdt install os.? because, mdt indeed set use "about:blank" default homepage  devaraj g | technical solution architect

so i'm using measure-command bit log metrics different commands.  the commands i'm running take anywhere 1 second couple minutes, settled on wanting command times returned in seconds.  here basic sample piece of code outlines issue. $time = (measure-command {start-sleep -s 65}).seconds value of $time 5 if run command.  why isn't 65?  i had use .totalseconds("#") wanted, seems bug me. unfortunately there 60 seconds minute 7 seconds late if ignore 2 minutes.  if don't more 60 "totalseconds" late in trouble. \_(ツ)_/ Windows Server  >  Windows PowerShell

hello, have set dynamic vlan switching , roaming profiles. part works designed: depending on users group membership assigned vlan during logon process sso enabled via gpo. in essence happens: user logs windows 7 (user authentication sso) computer changes vlan computer receives new ip user logon completes  user receives mapped drives, gpos, etc.. works well.. until user needs log off. when user clicks on logoff roaming profile begins uploaded server, profile being upload dynamic vlan switching occurs , computer receives ip vlan - halts profile upload. there way delay logoff process? maybe have os wait until profile uploaded server?  thanks hi, in brief, roaming profile not supported work dynamic vlan switching. the 802.1x authentication process , winlogon process 2 distinct processes not interrelated. both these processes occur regardless of state of other. we highly recommend not use roaming profiles 802.1x authentication. for detailed

from win2k3 machine, i'm trying access folder on virgin win2k8r2 machine. machines in vpn. in address bar of win2k3 machine, type \\mywin2k8machinename\myfoldername. prompted twice user name , password. system flashes error saying windows cannot find '\\mywin2k8machinename\myfoldername'. check spelling, etc. etc. unfortunately, know d*ck win2k8r2. can shed light on problem? thank you. hi,   let’s turn off windows firewall , temporarily disable security software, try ping windows server 2008 r2 windows server 2003. firstly, ping ip address. if can ping ip address without problems, please configure network card enable netbios on tcp/ip, ping computer name. meanwhile, configure vpn setting uncheck option “use default gateway on remote desktop”.     if issue persists, please run command: ipconfig /all to display network configuration, run command: net share display shared folder.   best regards dale please remember click “mark answer” on post help
