Migrate two Server 2003 Machines to 2012 Datacenter

hello,

i've got brand new dell 430 datacenter.  intent single machine replace 2 separate machines distinct names , ip addresses call server1 , server2.

server1 has database use our quality system, hosts network scans folders, , server our job boss mrp system.  mrp system can't upgraded since new version won't run on 2003, looks entire configuration needs migrated 2012 vm on datacenter.  ideally i'd retain name server1 prevent having reconfigure 100 or clients have been installed @ name.

server2 our dc, file server, print server, , hosts couple of small license servers.  realistically doesn't need migrate 2012 vm, replicated as-is 2003 vm on datacenter , retain same name server2.

what best method of attacking this? entire operation , running on own environment first?  keep off network until migration complete?  give instances different names until it's ready promoted?  i've been working on same 2003 ad decade now, it's been while since i've had configure rather tend.

keeping old names problematic. @ point have kill off old machine in order rename. if things go bad reversing problematic , end wrought disaster. dc should not have other roles on it, should perform ad/dns services.

the file print , license server roles should moved other guest member servers. since have windows datacenter can run unlimited guests host these roles separately.

the domain controller migration rather simple. i'd stand new guest, patch fully, join existing domain , promote it. can follow along here. it's recommended have @ least 2 dcs redundancy.

the mrp vendor may have suggestions on how new system , running parallel on new guest machines , method redirect clients new system.
