hiding/masking or renaming domain name that users see

hi,

scenario: company , company b merge. company has better infrastructure , plan merge/consolidate b management new combined domain name 'ab' it's costly build new infrastructure.

is there way retain domain name of company users ever see masked domain name 'ab' at login/authentication etc..

so oringal domain name not change users think has changed.

can adding upn suffix resolve this?

thanks

in short - no (assuming referring domain name appearing in "log on windows" dialog box). while can rename domain (which accomplish you're looking for) - that's not i'd recommend in case (and not allow retain existing domain name).

what can define a new upn suffix (follow http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc772007.aspx ) in forest , have users log on using upn containing new suffix (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa380525(v=vs.85).aspx for details). this, however, change way log on - , not "hide" domain in way...
