KMS-W2K3 Setup Error

i attempting install kms server on windows 2003 sp2 box. installation starts , after accept license agreement runs short time , error messager says "kms-w2k3 setup error".   thingi can click ok , ends , roles changes. there 1 error in system event log

timed out sending notification of target device change window of "c:\windows\explorer.exe"

with eventi 257. should pretty simple process. have ideas?

have installed update after installing kms?
an update available installs key management service (kms) 1.2 windows server 2003 service pack 2 (sp2) , later versions of windows server 2003

and have rebooted after installation, should procedure install kms.


  1. use kmsw2k3 file install kms 1.0 windows server 2003 , later, if not installed.
    download kms w2k3 version 1.1 windows server 2003 x86
    download kms w2k3 version 1.1 windows server 2003 x64
  2. restart after install ((necessary)
  3. run kb968915 update file.
    download update version 1.2 windows server 2003 x86
    download update version 1.2 windows server 2003 x64 
  4. restart after applying update (necessary)
  5. next stepts:
  • install , activate appropriate kms key volume licensing service center
  • make sure firewall computer configured correctly enable incoming communication kms host computer through tcp port 1688.
  • make sure kms host computer published dns service location (srv) resource records enable automatic discovery kms client computers.

 

can confirm have done this, described above?

server manager error: ADAM.events.xml could not be enumerated.

i have domain server windows 2000 sp4. my clients using win xp , win 98. when send messages computer management-shared folders-rightclick-all task-send message connected users, message received clients using winxp but not in  win 98 .how send them without winpopup  , net meeting. this forum windows server 2008.   check messenger service running on win98-clients.
