Permission settings on a folder not being respecetd
i have windows server 2k8 sp2 based file server has various shared folders setup. these setup have:
site - dept - subfolders
access based enumeration employed users can see folders have access to. of sites access folders via terminal servers user @ each site has direct access pc site - dept - subfolder - transfer can transfer edited pictures onto file server 1 directory , move them site - dept - subfolder - pictures site - dept - subfolder - transfer.
this works fine sites except one. problem 1 site when transfer pictures not take on permissions set on folder being transferred into.
all sites set same this.
why 1 folder not working should permissions?
>>this works fine sites except one. problem 1 site when transfer pictures not take on
>>the permissions set on folder being transferred into.
this sounds typical copy-vs-move or same-disk-vs-different-disk (volume) copy issue.

summary:
1) on copy (regardless of same or different disks), permissions inherited target folder
2) on move (different disks/volumes), permissions always inherited target folder
3) on move (same disk/volume), permissions moved well.
4) behavior of windows explorer can overwritten using following registry setting
forcecopyaclwithfile
options 3 , 4 cause.
