Want to Migrate File server from CIFS share (EMC) to Windows Server 2008 R2 with DFS Replication

hi all,

we using emc storage cifs partition want use fiber channel connection instead of cifs.

our plan change connection method in emc cifs fiber channel connect fiber channel lun windows server act file server , dfs server replicate other file server/dfs replication.

my problem using more 6 tb cifs volume , large permission users not sure how converted fc , share permissions contact emc can guide if have idea smooth transition or how can export permissions , apply same permissions in case fc lose cifs permission?

is dfs right choice offsite/dr replication more 6 tb data?

please suggest.

thanks

hi,

i'm not familiar storage device. assume cifs share means network folder (//ipaddress/share). if so, how set share permission , ntfs permission?

a fc lun work physical disk said. share permission , ntfs permission need set on file server connected. if permission settings of cifs share on storage device instead of on server (a windows system), need contact emc output permission settings , import windows system.

and second question, though have 6tb data, edited altogether in short time? if so, dfsr not perfect option changed data may not able replicated quick enough.

if part of them changed, dfsr should work.

if have feedback on our support, please send tnfsl@microsoft.com.
