Win2003 IAS multi-language support issues...

the old radius nntp group dead now, thought i'd ask here.  if there "better" location, please let me know.

this issue might exists in win2008, haven't checked yet.

scenario (simplified):

traditional chinese client (xp) makes pptp vpn connection english win2003 rras server uses radius authenticate on english server running ias.

the above scenario fails, seems ias server "assumes" username  (and password) in local server language.  so, when recives 6 byte username attribute, assumes 6 english characters rather 3 tc characters.

part of due ugliness in radius rfc doesn't force encoding scheme on username , other attributes (though utf-8 mentioned, more of "please this, don't have to" sort of requirement).

is there anyway around issue?  can tc (jp, it, etc.) clients authenticate against english ias?  fwiw, language used on ad servers not make difference (which i'd expect), of client , ias.

hi,

i believe fixed recently. don't have details on whether working on windows 2008. have tested multi byte usernames in windows2k8r2 , working. haven't tested multi byte passwords though, suspect should working on latest version.

thanks,
srinivasulu.
