Problems with Windows 10 clients finding print server by name

i can map printers on our company network fine windows 7 clients, windows 10 clients struggle resolve print server name when trying map printers. when using ip address of printer server works fine. (i.e.'192.168.0.5\printername'  works fine, yet 'printservername\printername' not work)

the clients can ping print server using name, not name resolution issue dns.

has else seen issues windows 10 clients mapping printers via print servers name?

i forgot mention, the print server running server 2008 r2!

server manager error: ADAM.events.xml could not be enumerated.
