Migrating to another AD

hi all,

we have main network few dcs @ few sites, exchange in datacenter on same domain etc. time ago bought company had own ad domain connected our networks via vpn, set trust etc. domain1 has got user accounts same names in domain2 (plus own) using single exchange in domain1 (so domain1 has users already).

now - want migrate/merge purchesed company domain (domain2) our main domain (domain1) questions are:

1. can we, , if can - warth, move/merge pcs/dcs/memberservers etc domain2 domain1 (specialy - can domain controllers in domain2)?

2. can files/folders permitions on fileservers in domain2 if want move data domain2 domain1 (just remind - have user accounts same names in dmain2 , domain1)?

thanks

  1. you don't migrate dcs, setup new dcs in target domain cover sites source domain spread on today. may want migrate member servers maintain/preserve permissions - might case workstations - if can't re-installed instead.

  2. you migrate on groups , user objects, match them existing user objects , merged, ex existing accounts have both new identity (sid) , source domain identity (sid) populated in sidhistory, allows migrated users access both new resources , resources in source domain while migrate, , allows continues access once servers have been migrated on target domain.
