What is the best NIC configuration ?
imagine hyper-v server 3 running vm's...
on physical server installed 4 x nic ...
what best configuration:
1) team 4 nic's appear 1 single nic virtual switch or
2) assign 1 nic each server (1x physical + 1xvm1 + 1xvm2 + 1xvm3) ? or
3) assign 1 nic physical server , team 3 remaining virtual switch ?

hi marc,
this tricky question , answer (it depends).
form opinion recommend teaming (although not supported microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968703 )
"since network adapter teaming provided hardware vendors, microsoft not provide support technology thru microsoft product support services."
teaming provides ha solution , prevents single point of failure. if in shoes that, assign 1 nic server management "updates, monitoring, etc" , team 2 nics vms external access gives ability not share connection management os, , make use of rest of nics other purposes dmz access or nlb between vms, iscsi san access or other needs
