Can ad lds bind to security groups

i researching connecting security groups instead of ou's; moving central , giving our lan admins more duties. there central (global) applications need ad authenication (security, ticketing system, virtual desktops) tied central ou houses the 2000 or users , not looking @ child ou's parent. "company name->people"  under people there the child "department" ou's.; need have same structure broken down locations.

we want go geographical model delegation have lan admins manage own users , computers , apply corporate directives via global group policy give access corporate application.

i haven't found yet says can or can not done eveything seems point ou's to one ou. wanted know if idea swim or sink.

thanks
