Merge of VHD with AVHD and no Hard drive Space

hi all, have curly one.

i have no room on hard drive (windows server 2008) host two hyper v servers.

the previuos guy made snapshot 6 months ago have avhd thats 200gb have 100 gb space.

my vhd 10gb , avhd 200gb

i started merge , got scared , cancelled it as hard drive space going down rapidly. know have vhd @ 70gb (as did merge parent) , avhd still 200gb.

my 3 questions are :

1)whats best process merge these files 1 vhd

2)can cut , paste vhd  , virtual server start again eg:  (if stop other server (dc), move vhd toa  external drive, merge vhd , avhd , once done move dc vhd server)

3)can merge avhd moving usb drive , nerging parent edit disk , merge facilty.

hi phil.

i have 2 suggestions here:

1) merge snapshots hyper-v 

 

1. shut down vms

2. move (copy-delete) vm folders hd (can usb) except 1 merged

3. delete snapshots of specific vm

4. move vm hd

5. copy next vm hd.

6. repeat step 3-6 until vms shrunk
