Retiring an old server but keeping its shared folder running

hello,

i done our dfs migration server 2003 sp2 server 2012 r2. ran roadblock have old application pointing directly shared folder on old file server (i.e. \\oldserver\sharedfolder), attempted change path on application dfs namespace instead of shared path, application still holding on of attachments located on old share.

i looking way redirect shared path \\oldserver\sharedfolder \\newserver\sharedfolder , turn off old server. application still go \\oldserver path accessing files in \\newserver path. allow me retire windows 2003 server.

user account access share folder new path client, right?

only application points wrong path? what's application?

if so, clear cache on application, add new path？ , might need confirm application vendor details configuration path change.
