Best Approch to Upgrade 2008R2/2012 cluster in windows 2012 R2 Cluster

hi team,

i want consolidate windows hyper-v server/cluster 1 single windows 2012r2 cluster .

i have below environment.

1. three  windows 2012 r1, clustered hyper v.
2. three windows 2008 r2, individual hyper v host. of virtual machine running rdm disk.

 

can 1 suggest me best approach upgrade 3 windows 2008r2 standalone host 2012r2 , consolidate single cluster along windows 2012r1.

can convert rdm iscsi volume.

sure can. you'd better map storage hypervisor, create vhdx on , use vhdx virtual disk passed vm. pass-thru , iscsi disks connected inside vm work , have benefits (well, less in 2012 r2 in 2008 performance same , vhdx bypassed 2tb limit of vhd) in general drawbacks overweight: problems vm migration (other host need have physical connectivity storage) , of agent-less vm backups cannot handle these disks properly.
