Create AD/LDAP Indices?
bear me, though next paragraph contains unix stuff, it's background, windows-only question. ;)
we're software development shop creates software both windows , various unix flavors, such rely on integration our unix systems our active directory infrastructure (2012 r2). have been using nis, , on years it's worked sufficiently well. however, we're making move ldap network security reasons. in adventures i've found microsoft's ad contains implementation of rfc 2307 "using ldap nis", doesn't implement rfc 2307bis additionally contains objects , attributes unix automount. have modified our ad 'bis' objects , attributes, , added ad content required automounts.
however, when lookup 1 of these objects receive 'not found' though there (. (e.g. "automountmapname=auto_master,ou=posix,dc=domain,dc=com"). tree search shows they're in there adsi edit. i've tried few different methods lookup both windows , unix sides same result. appear problem in ad , not applications i'm using lookup.
i tried poking around interweb , found missing defining automountmapname (on automountmap object) index value. have since specified index attribute in ad schema tool. however, no change.
so question is, need rebuild ad indices after specifying new attribute index? if so, how? or wandering down wrong path here?
thanks,
-mike
