Propagate DNS client names via DHCP to all clients: is it possible? HOW?

hello,
@ moment have ws2008 server , configured dns , dhcp.
trying use names instead of ip addresses reference clients "unable resolve name".

whilst every computer can "ping server", no computer including server can "ping clientxx".
works , ip addresses though.

nslookup works same way too. can resolve "server" not "clientxx"

scope options in dhcp have "enable dns dynamic...[etc]" ticked , "always dynamically update dns , ptr records." checked.

ideas?

hi,

thanks posting here.

have deployed active directory in environment , these client computers domain members ? if yes, have tried ping fqdn of client computer , what’s result. may verify if client computer records had been correctly set under zone on dns server ?

another possible netbios ,are clients , server connected in same subnet ? have deployed wins ?
