P2V SQL Server 2008 R2 HYPER-V Clustering

hi all,

i have current sql server 2008 environment have following requirements:

1. server failover cluster 1 node server (physical server)

2. 4 shared disk storage (san)

3. connectivity hba

i supposed migrate existing hyper-v environment following information detail:

1. provision csv in same storage existing 4 shared disk storage

2. server b (hyper-v deployed future sql server cluster)

the scenario want migrate server server b.

please correct plan following detail:

- want p2v existing server b (hyper-v).

here questions

1. possible vhd after p2v process attached csv storage ?

2. possible shared storage in previous environment re-mapping volume hyper-v ?

sorry if thread disorganized, novice in case. need kind advice best practice solve issue.

please tell me if there less clear.

best regards,

ari

first question why want p2v?  not take effort create new vm , use sql tools backup , restore databases new environment.  using known , proven tools instead of trying make work p2v.

when p2v, process create virtual hard drives each physical drive.  if want make sql server vm, not make sense keep storage on pass-through disks.  better use vhds storage of vm.

having single node clusters not make sense, unless idea add second node when available.
