Windows XP client being disconnected from network drive
i have workstation running xp w/sp3 intermittently losing connection mapped network drive.
the machine client on our 2008 r2 server , has had no issues communicating server.
we have old 2003 server housing our epicor erp , drive in question housed.
i can't find correlation between updates, client or server side, nothing shows in event viewer server side either. double click on x'd out drive reconnect two, other times prompts user log/pass (for no credentials, admin or other, work) , other times hangs.
no other users have reported issues, seems isolated 1 box. i've tried stuff doesn't work, new cable, update nic drivers, yada yada.
any advice on troubleshooting? scouring internet hasn't proved helpful, i'm square 1 , stumped.
thanks in advance guidance!
hi,
first please refer article:
mapped drive connection network share may lost
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297684
sometimes firewall can cause kind of issues. you could temporary disable firewall on both computers see result.
in general situations, although connections disconnect after while, should able reconnect if launch it. in case may need change ntlm authentication level. please refer following website.
network security: lan manager authentication level
the policy is:
computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\local policies\security options\network security: lan manager authentication level
please change “send lm & ntlm - use ntlmv2 session security if negotiated”.
