i have primary domain controller - windows 2008 sp1 64 bit .   trying install windows 2008r2 64 bit additonal domain controller windows 2008sp1 .  getting error a 

to install domain controller active directory forest must first prepare forest using ' adprep /forestprep.  adprep utility available on windows server r2 installation media in support\adprep \ folder.

you planning add windows 2008 r2 dc , current dc 2008 sp1 x64, recommend install sp2 on 2008 need run adprep/adprep widows 2008 r2 media extend schema.

in windows server 2008 r2, adprep available in 32-bit version , 64-bit version. 64-bit version runs default.

adprep /forestprep
-must run on schema operations master forest.
-once entire forest

adprep /domainprep
-must run on infrastructure operations master domain.
-once in each domain plan install additional domain controller runs later version of windows server latest version running in domain.

adprep /domainprep /gpprep
-must run on infrastructure operations master domain.
-once in each domain within forest

schema version:

windows 2000    -    13

windowos 2003   -  30

windows 2003 r2  - 31

windows 2008       - 44

windows 2008 r2  - 47

Cannot access Anywhere Access using domain name?

after installing anywhere access in windows server 2012 essentials r2, cannot use anywhere access using setup domain name in wizard such remote.mydomain.com? if enter public ip address, example, 72.2.34.5 works. before set anywhere access, created a record pointing public address...pinged , worked...so not sure doing wrong?  is wizard supposed create record etc , make remote.mydomain.com work? if enter public ip address while on lan, takes me router webpage.  shouldn't work on lan if accessed via public ip? thank you, tim. the wizard can configure remote.microsoft_names.com  remote.remotewebaccess.com but cannot configure domains purchased outside wizard.  depends on how domain configured if wildcard.yourdomain.com should work  if try ping remote.your_domain.com afar , not give proper  public ip, need add record mariette said. much have record domain.com www.domain.com , if have website somewhere else www.domain.com , need remote.domain.com go box gr
