Server2003 DNS - strange error over LAN

i set server2003 (iis6,dns, no ad) act test box our websites, , seems work correctly.
when i'm on server can see our sites in internet explorer, default http://192.168.2.200
to temporary test-site of http://j.jon
but, when i'm on xp machine on lan, can see default http://192.168.2.200
none of others show up. (web/internet sites show normally)

i've been pulling hair out days on - ideas please?

ip=192.168.2.100 (gw=192.168.2.1)
dns1=192.168.2.200
dns2=(isp)80.58.##.##

xp>ping 192.168.2.1     allgood
xp>ping 192.168.2.200  allgood
xp>ping myserver2003  allgood
xp>ping j.jon                not find host

but i've moved discussion on
network infrastructures servers forum
which seems more dedicated dns stuff.

ps. h-e-l-l not swearing. filter in forum bit keen.
(maybe in palin-land, texass, its considered bad form -but thats different kettle of hypocrisy)
