Windows Server 2003 SP2 update fails and now I can't access any microsoft.com site

hi,

i trying reinstall windows server 2003 on dell poweredge 700.  

after installing ws2003, went windows update installed newest version of windows upgrade.  i checked on upgrade latest update , given windows server 2003 sp2.  i tried install , install hung canceled it.  i went onto microsoft.com , downloaded sp2 update here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=95ac1610-c232-4644-b828-c55eec605d55&displaylang=en. installed sp2. went again windows update , found not access webpage.  i got "this page cannot displayed" error. after little confusion whether network failed or of sort, able determine access internet site except ones associated *.microsoft.com. 

after searching on web trying little fixes (such checking host file unwanted redirects, clearing internet explorer's temporary files, cookies, , history; none of worked) thought somehow might have downloaded hacked sp2 update reinstalled windows server 2003.  i verified go onto microsoft website. again went microsoft update, upgraded latest version of update, , tried sp2 update again.  this time, instead of hanging up, sp2 update failed.  after happened no longer able access *.microsoft.com websites through internet explorer.

i checked event viewer , there events "windows update agent" confirm several security updates , should installed on next scheduled install (sunday). checked services , verified "automatic update" service started (but weird thing scheduled startup set disabled; changed automatic).

does have suggestions regarding this? stated earlier, absolutely fresh install of windows server 2003 makes of weird me.

is there error code?

please check windows update log %systemroot%\windowsupdate.log.

please check version of internet explorer, if internet explorer 6, please update internet explorer 7 or higher. alternatively, use other browsers test.

Cannot access Anywhere Access using domain name?

after installing anywhere access in windows server 2012 essentials r2, cannot use anywhere access using setup domain name in wizard such remote.mydomain.com? if enter public ip address, example, 72.2.34.5 works. before set anywhere access, created a record pointing public address...pinged , worked...so not sure doing wrong?  is wizard supposed create record etc , make remote.mydomain.com work? if enter public ip address while on lan, takes me router webpage.  shouldn't work on lan if accessed via public ip? thank you, tim. the wizard can configure remote.microsoft_names.com  remote.remotewebaccess.com but cannot configure domains purchased outside wizard.  depends on how domain configured if wildcard.yourdomain.com should work  if try ping remote.your_domain.com afar , not give proper  public ip, need add record mariette said. much have record domain.com www.domain.com , if have website somewhere else www.domain.com , need remote.domain.com go box gr
