Folder redirection vs. roaming policies or both??

i planning implement 2008, ad, exchange, , sp in small company (30-50 users).  of folks remote, have laptops, , connect main office via cisco vpn.  there 2 main concerns have when planning this.  first, backing user's data.  second, being able access data later if pc fails or when logging in on shared desktop.  have read lot of posts folder redirection , roaming policies.  reallly looking recommendations using 1 or other (or both).  have nothing win 7 machines on ad if helps.

thanks much!

folder redirectoion or roaming profiles used backup user data on shared location , if user hopping 1 system system data should available on computer logging in.

this way having access data no matter on system logging in.

if pc not connected network , user still need access files stored in network location can think of enabling offline files in windows 7
