Terminal Server License server move to a new hardware

terminal licensing server moved new hardware, need move licenses, need on that. following steps completed far..

old licensing server

os=windows 2003 sp 2 32 bit

old ts licensing server was on  domain controller, demoted server member server.

new server

os windows 2003 sp2 32 bit

promoted new server domain controller

installed ts licensing componet add remove programs > windows features

activate server (online)

trying install licenses, prompting license program, don't have information how liceses purchased person responsible earlier had left company. transerfing licenses not activating or buying new licenses.

to migrate ts licensing role new windows server 2003

 

1.determine server want migrate ts licensing role to.

2.install ts licensing role on server.

3.activate new license server.

4.install same number , type of ts cals on new license server installed on source server. this, must call microsoft clearinghouse. when call microsoft clearinghouse, ensure have ts cal purchase agreement documentation available facilitate reissuing ts cals.

5.ensure terminal servers in environment can discover new license server.

a client computer receives ts cal previous license server continues operate normal until ts cal expires. when ts cal expires, terminal server requests new ts cal new license server.

6.to discoverable in domain, license server must domain controller. if did not install ts licensing role on domain controller, must configure terminal server use new license server.
