Windows Server 2012 R2 Fresh Install - Internet Access

hi,

i have installed w2012r2 fresh install on laptop testing purpose. have disabled wifi adapter, ethernet card enabled. have configured ipv4 static ip 192.168.0.235 , subnet mask 255.255.255.0and default gateway 192.168.0.1 i.e. router. have added preferred dns i.e. 192.168.0.235.

i have added server roles i.e. ads, dns, dhcp , book.

the domain clients getting ip assigned dhcp , able access internet through gateway.

but on server cannot access internet - says no internet access. gess windows server 2012 comes locked down default on installation.  not sure enable allow access internet, windows updates, time sync etc work.

any appreciated.

you not want multi-home domain controller i'd leave wired enabled. if me i'd reset home router default (dhcp enabled) , leave windows dhcp server inactive now. server needs static address on same subnet (192.168.0.x) default gateway set router address (192.168.0.1) dns should server's own address primary , 127.0.0.1 secondary. ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /registerdns and possibly reboot, wait patiently dns startup (5 10 minutes) more steps later once verify server has internet.

Cannot access Anywhere Access using domain name?

after installing anywhere access in windows server 2012 essentials r2, cannot use anywhere access using setup domain name in wizard such remote.mydomain.com? if enter public ip address, example, 72.2.34.5 works. before set anywhere access, created a record pointing public address...pinged , worked...so not sure doing wrong?  is wizard supposed create record etc , make remote.mydomain.com work? if enter public ip address while on lan, takes me router webpage.  shouldn't work on lan if accessed via public ip? thank you, tim. the wizard can configure remote.microsoft_names.com  remote.remotewebaccess.com but cannot configure domains purchased outside wizard.  depends on how domain configured if wildcard.yourdomain.com should work  if try ping remote.your_domain.com afar , not give proper  public ip, need add record mariette said. much have record domain.com www.domain.com , if have website somewhere else www.domain.com , need remote.domain.com go box gr

WMI Failure: Unable to update Local Resource Group
