Install recommended Hyper-V hotfixes on both hypervisor and guest machines?

microsoft maintains list of recommended hyper-v hotfixes in -for example- articles these:

my question is: need install these updates on both hypervisor machine , guest machines run on it?

an additional question: hurt if approve these updates servers don't run hyper-v (machines os direct on metal).

i can not find answer rather simple question anywhere, hope can provide guidance on this.

when @ details many (most) of patches listed, find of them not hyper-v specific.  in other words, general patches should applied windows environment, important applied hyper-v hosts @ minimum.

generally speaking, microsoft releasing patches should applied systems can applied.  timing of when apply them you, recommended apply them possible.  security fixes should applied immediately.  patches, depending on particular environment, may not need installed because addressing issue not prevalent in environment.  but, should apply them @ time.
