just confirm our scenario supported. running:
- windows server 2003 r2 sp2 (article doesn't specify r2)
- wsus v.3.2.7600.226 (not sure if sp2 stated in article)
no, first need install kb2734608 or later wsus v3.2.7600.226 machine, , acceptable migration.
given you're wsus sitting on ws2003 server, let's consider how old installation begin with. should give serious though whether *migrating* server right decision, opposed installing *new* server side-by-side, , abandoning old one.
but if decided migrate server, alternative convoluted, poorly written, , never successful "migration guide" offered above, suggest use built-in replication of wsus replicate server.
- install new server replica of live server , patch.
- perform initial synchronization replicate metadata, target groups, approvals, , content.
- verify synchronization activity , file downloads completed.
- reconfigure new server upstream. sure double check desired product categories , update classifications selected synchronization.
- synchronize microsoft.
- verify new wsus server can detect, download, , install updates itself.
- reconfigure clients use new server.
- when clients have reported new server, take old server offline. (note: if using server-side targeting need re-assign group memberships; however, there free tool can work you!)
