Unapproved updates being offered
i'm not sure how background should add question. i'll start short version , go there. have new xp box connected wsus. showing 249 required updates on wsus. of had previous approvals, did not 70 updates offered pc. did not want updates @ going new box put own group , removed approvals on updates computers.
so, there still 25 updates being offered pc. when run report on needed updates box, 25 show "install" in report though updates have not been approved new group. remainder of 249 needed listed "not approved" expected. try keep them being offered, removed approvals on 249 updates shown box. of updates show not approved in updates list still 25 show "install" in report new box. have looked @ approvals on several (but not all) , verified there no approvals shown.
what's causing these updates applied box when have no approvals? can fix it?

well, figured out little bit more.
updates being offered unexpectedly have approved revisions. though remove approval on latest revision, wsus keeps overriding specific disapproval because there had been previous revision approval. if open revision history , edit approval on previous revision, update no longer gets offered. realized though updates list shows not approved after remove approval, gets set approved based on revision approval , if refresh updates list these updates show install - ignoring explicit removal of permission.
went options->automatic approvals->advanced tab , verified checkbox automatically approve new revisions of updates approved cleared - , has been cleared since misused install microsoft search bar couple years ago.
have manually remove approvals on previous revisions of these updates. guess should glad it's not on hundreds or thousands of updates - though next time comes up, assuming microsoft doesn't fix bug, hundreds or thousands of manual approval removals.
