User Profile Disks are excessive size compared to actual contents

hi -

2012r2 rds farm, have configured deployment use upd's user session profiles. finding size of upd growing out of control , consuming space far in excess of actual contents of profile folders.

for example user profile has approximately 20mb of files total in folders results in upd size of 1 gb.  added 20 mb of files to a users profile and his upd grew 700 meg.  space inefficiency not acceptable.

is there reason massive increase in upd size disparite actual size of data added profie.

if can't controlled better i have go standard roaming profiles / folder redirection

thanks

hi,

1. in session collection properties, maximum size did set upd to?

2. you mentioned adding 20 megabytes of files users profile.  size each 1 of these files added, , how many of them total?

3. size of vhdx file before adding files?

4. how did add files, specifically?  did copy new files using file explorer, or overwrite existing files, or else?

5. if mount user's vhdx file , examine properties of drive, how space used?  please make sure eject once finished user doesn't temporary profile next time log on.

thanks.
