Hyper-V / Nic Teaming / Best Practices?

everyone,

we have dell r710 server 4 onboard 1gb nic cards.  i want team these running virtual servers off box, , added benefit of combining these cards bandwidth load balancing / fail-over if card fails/etc.

can me getting going?  i not sure if i've done falls best practices, here's i've done far:

1) gave each network adapter static ip (no vlans in our setup)
2) when installed hyper-v, set vethernet external switch on each network interface.
3) i'm ready setup nic team, i'm stumped how this.

when go create nic team, has following listed:
vethernet 1, 2, 3 , 4

not list physical ethernet network adapters.

when try create nic team of 4 vethernet adapters, fails error "operation timed out: teamnic installation did not complete in timely manner"

can point me in right direction of getting going?

thank you!

hi jon,

based on situation , please re-install physical nics , try again .

>>so in essense, i'm supposed team 4 nics one, run virtual ethernet switch in hyper-v off of 1 teamed nic , of virtuals , hyper-v host physical server should running off of nic team?

yes , can team them "share" teamed nic host when create external virtual switch .

best regards

elton ji
