WSUS cannot load certain patches from the online catalog


wsus installation version: 3.2.7600.226 running on w2k8r2 ee x64.  have configured pull levels of classifications, , pertinant products.  pretty vanilla installation.  clients checking in without problems.

one of items have patch, our ocs r2 environment, runs on 2003r2sp2 x64.  list of patches ocs r2 available @ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968802 and not all of patches not visible in online catalog. 

the patches available:

977347, 977344, 977937, , 980372

the patches unavailable are:

967832, 2028578, 983471, 983469, 2028574, 971298, 2284304, 983472, 2032834, 982170, 2028582, , 967830.

why these patches not available in catalog?  not appear superceeded, nor listed defunct on patch pages.  unable have wsus find them automatically, can't manually install them, and am hitting head against wall.  fantastic...

 

why these patches not available in catalog? 

because hotfixes.... hotfixes not published catalog. available through controlled requests, , requests monitored, , followed-up on determine functionality , success of hotfixes.

more point, should install hotfix if you have explicitly identified occurrence of actual (mis)behavior documented in associated kb article. in other words.. regards hotfix .. if ain't broken .. not "fix" it!

you may find benefit reviewing technet documentation on update management.

i suggest reviewing actual kb articles associated each of 12 identified hotfixes.
