Candid talk from another Forum

i have read of thread & really, tried keep tabs on continues have additions.  w/out bothering w/ whether an original key lost or replaced, whether an original recovery partition lost or replaced when production os overwritten beta os, i'm going suggest not nor should be @ issue.

4th operating system have beta tested microsoft.  if, 1 goes past precedent, not go production os beta os , not go beta os rtm or ga.  have not read or heard suggest being different w/ windows 10.

going have some builds of win10 tech preview. then, around april 2015, there be windows 10 consumer preview , maybe, more 1 build of it; all of betas!  until we see rtm & ga sometime, maybe mid-2015.

now, read, "i swapped out os windows 10, do , now?" or "can revert whatever os had?" or "how go back?" or "what confronts me when ga arrives?" or "i'll able go beta ga, right?"... it reminds me of many years ago when sp1 arrived xp. people saying bad, broke things or stuff did not work after installing it.  but, not bad nor did mess up anything.  problem there on page got sp1 said, "what before installing sp1"  , if read , did said, everything fine.   well, now, where 1 goes get windows 10 there are, also, things read, shown below in these excerpts:
(i including things relate thread... nothing may or may not work in beta os or glitches 1 can expect.)

before install windows technical preview

if want go previous operating system

you'll need reinstall version of windows recovery or installation media came pc (typically dvd media). if don't have recovery media:

      • for windows 7 or windows vista: before update, might able create recovery media recovery partition on pc using software provided pc manufacturer. check support section of pc manufacturer's website more info.

      • for windows 8.1 or windows 8: might able create usb recovery drive. more info, see create usb recovery drive. if didn’t create usb recovery drive before installed preview, can create installation media windows 8.1.

      important

remember, trying out build can risky. that's why recommend don't install preview on primary home or business pc. unexpected pc crashes damage or delete files, should everything.

if want stop using windows technical preview , return previous version of windows, you'll need reinstall previous version recovery or installation media came pc—typically dvd. if don't have recovery media, might able create recovery media recovery partition on pc using software provided pc manufacturer. you'll need before upgrade. check support section of pc manufacturer's website more info.

after install windows technical preview, won’t able use recovery partition on pc go previous version of windows.

                                                                      ************

point being discussion valid keys or rest in thread moot point.  closing barn door after horse has escaped.  why myself & several others since before vista final have warned people & repeatedly said put beta oss on vhds, vms, spare drives or spare boxes.  if not, you, (1) rebuild prior os scratch, somehow, or (2) you buy new machine or (3) you buy retail copy of new os.  stated earlier, because, otherwise cannot revert , cannot go beta ga.  1, 2 & 3 sad because cost money and we may going 8.1 & possibly, 7, windows 10 free.

fact risk losing important files, data, images, docs.

fact there no pretty way out of mess. no clever workarounds
fact there need no such mess in 1st place.
fact there warnings.
fact advisements there, recommendations as to do and what not do are provided.
fact is, in spite of threadful of discussion & debate, know.
and you, now, know fix...
you, (1) rebuild prior os scratch, somehow, or (2) you buy new machine or (3) you buy retail copy of new os.

cheers,
drew
