Server 2012 and long paths (260 chars limit)

hi,

i think know 260 chars limit in path.

i dreamed windows 8 , server 2012 stop old limit, seems not...

i tried create folders path greater 260 chars, , obtain error "the path long".

but, alternate explorer 7-zip file manager (9.22), there few problems long paths (i can create or copy files 400 chars path example) file manager (but compression program, limitation is).

how deal limit, without using \\?\ paths ?

also, why in 2013 windows has limit ?

the maximum length of host name , of qualified domain name (fqdn) 63 octets per label , 64 characters per fqdn. latter based on maximum path length possible active directory domain name paths needed in sysvol, , needs obey 260 character max_path limitation.

 

to fix issue, may need reduce length of path. example, move folder has shorter path or shorten file name.
