Differencing VHD Multi Physical Disk Performance

i'm planning on using differencing vhds (in non-production environment).  i'm assuming if put parent vhd on 1 physical disk , child vhd on separate physical disk performance better if both vhds on same physical disk.  none less, nice have expert verify assumption.

the performance better if put them in different physical disk. however, can try build raid if want improve performance.
