uninstall ipv6 breaks my wsus - address shows as ::1 in wsus

i turned off ipv6 on wsus server , had strange results.

in wsus management console, computers, ip address wsus box showed ip address ::1 , box no longer updates itself.

things tried include ipconfig /flushdns, waiting several days , trying again, multiple reboots, deleting wsus server own database , deleting client registry entries , doing wuauclt /resetauthorization /detectnow.  when reran wuauclt, server added again management console again ::1 ip address same errors occurred trying update.

if restore ipv6 updates work updating itself.  updates continued work other clients throughout.

any suggestions how fix this?

don't turn off ipv6, it's heavy used internal windows networking stack

you need purge out old ipv6 dns records after turn off , ensure ipv4 name resolution working, assuming endpoints using wsus have valid ipv4 ips

what version of windows wsus running on?
