connect windows server via ldap

i new windows ad .

i use softerra ldap browser connect windows server ( localhost ) , use "administrator" user connect windows server , advise need input in principal field eg. cn= , ou= , o= ?

i tried input cn=administrator input password pops " supplied credential invalid" .

i assume format default:

cn=administrator,cn=users, dc=yourdomain,dc=yourtld

so if account domain.com as:

cn=administrator,cn=users, dc=domain,dc=com

server manager error: ADAM.events.xml could not be enumerated.

i have domain server windows 2000 sp4. my clients using win xp , win 98. when send messages computer management-shared folders-rightclick-all task-send message connected users, message received clients using winxp but not in  win 98 .how send them without winpopup  , net meeting. this forum windows server 2008.   check messenger service running on win98-clients.
