DC without DHCP could still browse internet if DNS down?

i have server2012 dc box , acting @ moment. we're in process of replacing it. in mean time, find way if box goes down, users inside browse internet. here theory, correct me if not work. turn off dhcp on dc, turn on dhcp on firewall (which dc plugged into). if box goes down means dns goes down lan users still able access internet?

thanks.

to access internet need dns resolution. assuming dhcp configured on firewall provide valid , working dns servers should work...

however, consider without domain services, , dns entries in nic pointing dc's have problems domain members since nothing able authenticate or locate domain services...some things may cached, wouldn't recommend going route.

you better off bringing online 2nd domain controller. should have more 1 domain controller , in order replace existing controller need anyways not lose domain. virtualize if need to.
