Issue with DHCP, DNS Server while moving from 2003 to 2008R2
hi,
we trying rid of windows server 2003 domain controller, dns , dhcp server.
basically, have 2 dc (2003 , 2008 r2). planning demote or decommission 2003 server leave week 2008 r2 install 2012 r2 server new dc.
my problem both server(2003 , 2008 r2) ad, dns , dhcp. have moved fsmo roles 2003 server 2008 r2. have exported dhcp database , authorised 2008 r2 server. however, stop dhcp , dns service 2008 r2 server doesn't seem overtake new position. basically, saying once stop services in 2003 server, 2008 server doesn't lease ip. doesn't work , start running dhcp services starts working fine. same problem dns, if service stopped start loading pages , sends error saying can't access.
what doing wrong here, have moved fsmo, dhcp installed, authorised , running , 2008 r2 secondary dns server.
regards,
aarif
hi,
the answer question in our firewall hasn't specify new dhcp server ip , dns ip.
guys working before come didn't demote 2000 server , firewall still had info of old dc (i not talking 2003 2000).
so cleared removed demoted , going demote dc , replaced ip new dc (2008).
everything seems working now
note:- after fixing dhcp issue had issue dns similar. had trouble because have 3rd party looks after our firewall, router, switch , network.
Windows Server > IPAM, DHCP, DNS
