Question about the shutdown /f command

hello,

we monitor several windows computers using software 3rd party vendor. (n-able technologies) on our servers, have observed after automated routines find "unscheduled shutdown" window displayed after these routines.  after asking few questions n-able, found out restart routine included shutdown /f /r command ensure shutdown completed successfully.

my question following:

could potentially dangerous servers may have have sql or exchange databases on them?  possibly cause corruption if databases forced stop?

we have servers range 2003 2012 majority of them being sbs servers.

thank you,

jesse

hiya,

usually unscheduled shutdowns if servers shutdown without reason. if use the /d option should good.

the /f command can problem when dealing exchange , sql databases. default value of force command 30 seconds , exchange , sql servers can take longer shutdown properly.

you can use /t xx given time, restart computer after time interval.

also should switch usage of powershell cmdlets rather commandline tools.
