Transferring FSMO roles from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012 R2

i planning domain controller migration between 2 geo-location sites. existing environment server 2008 r2, promoting server 2012 r2 domain controller in new site , shut down server 2008 r2.

i know if there issues while transferring fsmo roles server 2008 r2 server 20012 r2.

i have lot of services pointing domain controller on server 2008 r2, including exchange server 2010.

any suggestions appreciated.

thanks!

in terms of moving fsmo roles there shouldn't issue. see http://trunkofmemorie.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/how-to-change-fsmo-roles-in-windows-2012.html step step guide process. it's changed since earlier versions, , believe 2012 box involved it's recommended 2012 box take roles rather existing box giving them.

at least in theory services exchange etc should pointing domain, not dc itself, when add additional dc network they'll able reference both servers, , when old 2008 box demoted they'll continue before, but they'll using new dc instead. 1 , place i've had issues when replacing dc's in regards exchange scripts. since powershell scripts have querying or administrating exchange may include -domaincontroller parameter, references need updated since server name has been specified no longer valid.
