Logon failure the target account name is incorrect when trying to open shared network folder.

we have business location connected via vpn, when @ location tries open server directly \\servername\folder gives them message "logon failure target account name incorrect" . if try open same folder ip address \\10.2.1.1\folder opens. if ping servername same computer resolves. can access email , log virtual machines. there no domain firewall setup on computer or server. ip address , dns on computers right. i've taken computer off domain , put on , reset vpn tunnel connects us. i've done flushdns multiple times. our third location isn't having problems. please help...

i able fix issue by:

demoting second domain controller:

dcpromo /forceremoval

clearing out second domain controller information on primary:

ntdsutil metadata cleanup

promoting second domain controller

everything working now.

server manager error: ADAM.events.xml could not be enumerated.
