failed to create memory content file hyper-v

when trying start hyper-v server received error.

failed create memory contents file ‘c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\hyper-v\virtual machines\….(some numbers)…\..morenumbers.bin’ of size 2048mb.

my drive c: has 1gb free space , drive d: hosts .vhd files has 6gb free space

each of 5 virtual machines has 50gb .vhd file on drive d:

what should do? none of virtual machines not start

this error occured when restarted server after shutting down vms,

thanks lot

your vhds located @ d drive, virtual machine path ‘c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\hyper-v\virtual machines\….(some numbers)…etc... virtual machine store configuration files, snapshot files (if nothing else specified , vm working folder in general (bin, vsv files).

the virtual machine path selected when creating vm (c:\programdata\microsoft\windows\hyper-v\virtual machines suggested default path), so you either need create new virtual machines d: (or whatever drive has enough space) path specified, or export vms , import them hyper-v desired location.

an export move vhd files, while creating new vms without additional vhds except attaching existing vhds in place, lot quicker.

the usage of .bin files is part of hyper-v technology, , not optional.
