Server 2008 R2 won't run updates

hi, have new install of server 2008 r2 on hp proliant dl 320. can access internet, though dismissing warnings, can not run windows updates, activate license, nor run hp updates... it's if cannot data out. we've tried disabling firewall temporarily, changing restrictions on ie, , no joy! other computers, including several windows 7 computers on same network can run updates. suggestions?

have tried disabling internet explorer enhanced security?

it's located in:

- administrative tools;
- server manager;
- security information (just scroll down list);
- configure ie esc;
- turn off administrators (and users if desired).
