Word 2010 Not Responding First Time Printing in RDP client

we have windows 2008 r2, sp1 rds server word 2010 sp1.  users using redirected hp printers hp upd 5 , 6 drivers.  

whenever user tries print first time word 2010, word gets hour glass , says not responding minute, normalizes , print job comes out.  you can still access other applications in session, word locked up.  this not happen if example print test page.  it not happen subsequent jobs sent printer word.  it happens first time printing word, no matter how complex document.

i have notifications , advanced features shut off locally on upd driver.

any ideas on how troubleshoot further?
