hi support,

i need migrate child domain parent domain. have migrated of users , computer account parent domain. remain domain controller need migrate. verify migration steps of dhcp. thx !!

configuration:

srv - parent domain controller (with dns)

srv b - child domain controller (with dns , dhcp)

srv c - child domain controller (with dns)

1. run "dcpromo" demote child domain controller (srv b), use admt migrate computer account child parent. once join parent domain, authorized dhcp server.

2. run "dcpromo" demote last child domain controller (srv c). re-join server parent domain.

pls advise above steps. thx !!

hi,

one more question. have working dhcp server in parent domain? if so, want use dhcp server child domain split scope or not?

why want use scope(s) child domain within parent domain?

out of questions above, according plan (in opionion) it's step-by-step procedure.

but this, way:

1) unauthorize dhcp server before demote child domain

2) use admt migrate server's account new domain.

3) verify if ip addresses pool appropriate parent domain (if there no ip range conflict, network mask proper aso.) if so, fix it.

4) fix/adjust server/scope(s) options such as:

003 -> router (set default gateway appropriate ip address in parent domain)

006 -> dns servers list (make sure dns list valid parent domain)

015 -> dns domain name (fqdn of parent domain)

and additional options (if using wins servers, adjust options 044 , 046)

5) authorize dhcp server within parent domain

check if devices getting leases dhcp server (if using vlans, make sure have reconfigured ip helper od dhcp relay agent new dhcp server)

dns servers should migrate desribed.

regards, krzysztof
